Malt Club | Japanese Whisky

From humble beginnings, less than 100 years ago, the Land of the Rising Sun started brewing and distilling Single Malt Whisky. It has only been a few years since the world discovered Japanese whisky and the demand for it has been continuously growing since. The Japanese world of whisky started back in the early 90’s with the birth of the Yamazaki distillery, backed by the “Fathers of Japanese Whisky”, Masataka Taketsuru and Shinjiro Torii.

This Malt Club was buzzing with excitement as Jak shared with us the stories of these great pioneers and the legacy that followed them. Here’s a few crowd favourites of the night; Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt (43% ABV), Mars Iwai Tradition (43% ABV), Mars Cosmo (40% ABV) and taking the top spot, Mars Komagatake Single Malt Shinanotanpopo (52% ABV) – this was truly delicious, no wonder we sold every bottle we had instore afterwards! Don’t worry though, we do have a handful left floating around in the company. A worthy category to keep your eye on and we’ll endeavour to bring you these quality up and coming drams.
