NZ Whisky Night

The Glengarry Single Malt club now 5 years old held another spectacular night hosted by Greg Ramsey one of the new owners of the NZ whisky Company. They purchased the remaining 440 barrels of the Dunedin distilled whisky ex-Wilsons then Milford then Prestons and now NZ Whisky Company. Well the story is a long one and we were treated with some history and some great new releases and blends. In fact this night was the launch of the first true commercial ANZAC collaboration whisky, in the form of the Diggers and Ditch which is 80% Dunedin doublewood and 20% Lark distillery ex Tasmania. It was a delicious fruity whisky with great flavour and very moorish. In fact this word was often heard as we sipped through the South island Single Malts 18 and 21 year olds at 40% ABV great value and then onto cask strengths from 1988 and the now legendary collectors dram the 1987. There are still stocks available and a few on special , I do recommend them, you will find a very broad range here and there is surely one for your taste. Greg was a great entertainer sharing us his story one of a young golfer discovering whisky while working at the St Andrews Golf Course in Scotland. I will look forward to hosting him again as there is much to be told about these casks from the deep south now nurturing away in Oamaru. Come and view and take one to try from a selection at the Glengarry Victoria Park Store.

Greg is on the right toasting a great night with A Stoke Beer (which we all loved)
