Four Pillars Gin

Four Pillars Distillery is one of those places you need to visit in your lifetime! An hour outside of Melbourne, Healesville in the Yarra Valley has all the small country charm you could hope for, benefiting as a base to start exploring the wineries on offer nearby and now absolutely booming as the home to Four Pillars.

Established in 2013 by three friends, with the help of crowd funding from a handful of gin enthusiasts, Four Pillars has taken off on the back of incredible quality spirits with a focus on native botanicals, innovative ideas such as their Bloody Shiraz Gin, smart marketing and a fantastic team. James Irvine is their “Creative Drinks Director” and if you are struggling for inspiration or ideas with your cocktails follow him on social media as he travels the globe creating new cocktails promoting the versatility of the Four Pillars range.

The team at the cellar door are just as inspiring and so much fun to visit. I suggest giving yourself a good half a day to take it all in if you get the opportunity. Start your day early with a Bloody Snapper before moving on to a gin flight matchedwith tonics for a discussion on botanicals and production methods, with the stills providing the backdrop. You can then move your attention to a hands-on gin making session on one of the smaller copper stills. As with all things, there is no better way of understanding a process than to do it yourself and in this case you can watch the distillation bubbling away before tasting the spirit as it comes out of the still at a pure 90% ABV, if you are brave enough.

During September 2019, Glengarry are celebrating the FP Navy Strength Gin being awarded Master status at the Global Gin Masters for the 5th year running. We’ll have the entire range of gin on promotion so you can add to your collection or run a tasting session for your friends.
