Nestled at the base of the Southern Alps you will find the Broken Heart Distillery, an idea that started with the friendship of two Germans, Joerg and Bernd, and grew from their shared passion for distilling and creating spirits of complexity and flavour. Despite the successful realisation of their combined dream, Bernd would pass away after a short illness. It was in tribute to his friend that Joerg named their creation Broken Heart Gin, for a broken heart hurts but is also a space for new beginnings. Fast forward eight years and Broken Heart Distillery has gone from strength to strength, collecting six medals from six entries at the recent New Zealand Spirit Awards. A double gold for their original gin, a gold and four silvers a fitting recognition for the passion and values this distillery was built on. A perfect bottle to take the time to call a friend and enjoy the gin.
